Privacy Policy for Taco AI
Last updated: June 30, 2026
Taco AI ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps you discover authentic taco restaurants near you. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Account information When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. This information is stored in Firebase Authentication and Firestore, operated by Google.
Location data With your permission, we access your device's location while the app is in use to find taco spots near you. We do not track your location in the background. Location data is used only to perform searches and is not stored on our servers beyond the duration of an active search session.
Photos If you log a taco entry with a photo, that photo is uploaded to Firebase Storage. When you submit a photo for AI analysis (such as verifying a food truck or describing a taco), the photo is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude AI API for processing. Anthropic may retain submitted images in accordance with their own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not store AI-analyzed photos separately from your taco journal.
Taco journal entries Notes, ratings, and location names you add to taco log entries are stored in Firestore linked to your account.
Community-submitted spots If you submit a restaurant to the community map, that submission (restaurant name, location, and your user ID) is stored in Firestore and may be visible to other users.
Usage data We log in-app actions (such as searches performed, screens viewed, and features used) to a Google Sheets spreadsheet for analytics purposes. These logs contain your anonymous user ID and event type — not your name or email.
